The school rebuilding
project was completed in a record time of 7 months and handed over
to the village in October 2001.
26th October,
2001 will remain in memory for ever. The formal ceremony for the
inauguration of Aadariyana School was a very emotional and an overwhelming
event. More than 1000 people participated in the ceremony and everyone
was very happy and took pride in a project well done, achieved together
with co-operation, and harmony.

Each student
of the Boys school, the Girls school and the High School (about
1000 in all) and the teachers were given a cap as part of the celebrations.
The cap had the word Aadariyana in Gujarati with a symbol of Sun,
Tree and Water signifying Prosperity and Growth.
The village
people were so touched by the work of Eklavya, they collected money
on the spot and donated to the relief fund of Eklavya. The teachers
of the village school too donated their one day salary to the fund.
All the Principals
of the 10 schools have signed and given a statement which says (a
rough translation from their Gujarati): "We undersigned Principals
of these schools, will support whatever you ask, during day or night,
by tan-man-or dhan, in this Bhagirathi task done by you" and
the people said, "yeh to hamare liye swarg hai".

2. OLD SCHOOL
VS NEW SCHOOL
The old school
was in a congested area with a small playground (actually no playground
except the courtyard of the school). It was a ground-floor-only,
U-shaped building enclosing a courtyard and had a plan typical of
village schools.

Many village
schools have barely 1 or 2 rooms-Aadariyana has two sections each
from class 1 to 7 a total of 14 sections in the boys school alone.
More than 400 students regularly attend the school and the school
is a `cluster head school'. A total of 65 teachers of 10 schools
in this cluster are covered.
