SCHOOL REBUILDING PROJECT OF EKLAVYA, AHMEDABAD Table of contents
Executive Summary Eklavya is an independent not-for-profit foundation in Ahmedabad where we run a ICSE school and a teacher training institute (whose mission is to become to teacher education what IIMA is to management education). Eklavya is not affiliated with any religious or political organisation. In Aadariyana a village in Surendranagar disctrict 90% of the houses and also the school building have been rendered unfit for use. This school was the cluster head school serving the surrounding smaller villages also. We are going to rebuild it, much bigger, much better. In many seminars we have heard that this is wrong with Indias primary education system, that is wrong, here is a chance to correct all those things and make a school the way it should be. There are 65 teachers in this and other schools in 8 surrounding villages. Eklavya will conduct Teacher Training for 2 days a month for two academic years. Subjects will include standard subjects of a BEd curriculum like Child Development, Child Psychology, Teaching Methods in Languages/Maths/Social Science/Science etc. It will also include things like Teaching Fractions in Class 4, or Implications of the Theory of Multiple Intelligence in a classroom, or Making and Using Teaching Aids etc. All this will cost Rs.103 lacs over 2 years, out of which so far Rs.27 lacs is collected. |
