Facilitation is the key word here, because it was very much the people in the village that quickly adapted the generic framework to their own situation. It was great to see such a large group working enthusiastically together on their future and having lots of fun doing it".

The workshop was on the follows lines:

·         Introduction - The biggest challenge in the area affected by the earthquake is complexcity. There are many needs (water, shelter, health, education, clearing debris, trauma, and so on). There are many different parties involved (Government, NGOs, local authorities, and so on). It is also difficult to prioritise needs. In the tough situation of survival of the fittest, this tool provides a platform for working beyond self, towards wellbeing of all concerned.

·         What – Cubes 4 National (developed by Prof. Daniel Steenstra) is a toolset that aids different groups in aligning a range of functions, establishing a common understanding and facilitating effective communication to achieve common goals.

·         Benefits – The cubes provide a common platform for discussions and communications, supporting the local community in formulating a clear vision and processes and plans to make this happen.

·         (Eklavya is going beyond just rebuilding the school. The effort is towards rebuilding the village and the relationships – hopefully a more equitable one)

7. Civil Contractor – Mr.Dharmesh Shah of Diva Construction has been appointed as a Civil Contractor. He has volutneered to do this work as quickly as possibly (he says 6 – 7 months) without any profit margin, only on costs. He is a young (32 years) and committed civil contractor. He has done Diploma in Building Construction from the well known School of Building Science &Technology (CEPT) in 1989 and since 9 years has started a civil construction firm of his own, currently averaging work worth Rs.1.5 cr per annum.

8. Containers as temporary school rooms - About 25 containers suitably adapted to work as temparory classrooms, are being kindly donated by GE Containers and should be reaching Aadariyana and nearby villages in a couple of weeks time.

9. Details of Visits to Aadariyana village - Please see the statement below, just to give you an idea of the intensity of the efforts:
